Choose the right ticket product

Cable car tickets must be reserved online with an allocated boarding time slot. Ticket options include standard ascent/descent, one-way trips for hikers ascending Montaña Blanca, or combo packages including guided summit visits. Keep in mind: a standard cable car ticket does NOT include the permit to hike to the true summit (Trail #10); that requires a separate OAPN permit or an authorized tour.

Before you book

The cable car is extremely vulnerable to weather shutdowns due to high winds or icing on the cables, even on sunny days. If the cable car is cancelled for safety, your tickets are automatically rescheduled or fully refunded. Arrive at the base station 30–45 minutes prior to your allocated slot; parking at the base station is limited and fills early.

Confirm current rules and slot availability on the official reservation portal before visiting. Wander Tenerife provides booking information and links directly to official sources.

Frequently asked questions

Does buying a cable car ticket allow me to hike to the top of Mount Teide?

No. The cable car delivers you to La Rambleta at 3,555 m. To reach the actual summit peak (3,718 m via Trail #10 Telesforo Bravo), you need a separate OAPN summit permit or a guided tour that includes one.

Does booking a permit guarantee trail access on the day?

No. Access is subject to weather conditions, high wind shutdowns, and environmental alerts. Always check current National Park alerts before ascending.

What ID or documentation do I need to carry?

You must carry the original passport or national ID card whose number was used during registration. Park rangers inspect documents against the booking list.

Can I transfer my permit to someone else?

No. Official Tenerife permits are personal, strictly non-transferable, and cannot be resold or transferred to another name.
